Biological Treatment Processes

Hydroflux has a wealth of experience in the design and construction of secondary or biological treatment plants

Biological treatment plants are mostly designed to reduce the concentrations of BOD, COD and nutrients. Unlike sewage which is reasonable consistent, in industrial applications a biological treatment plant needs to be designed to suit every application.

The two main biological processes are aerobic or anaerobic both of which have many varieties,. Anaerobic systems are mostly suited to to high concentration wastewater and provide the possibility of reusing biogas for boilers or for generating electricity but will generally not provide a water quality that can be discharged to the environment.

Aerobic processes can be designed to remove BOD and nutrients to extremely low levels to enable discharge of the treated wastewater to the most pristine waterways or enable reuse.

    Baiada Wulkuraka (Poultry Processing wastewater treatment plant in QLD)

    Transpacific Mackay (Waste Oil Recovery plant in Northern Queensland)

    Located at Cleanaway’s Liquid and Industrial Services Facility in Paget, eastern Queensland, the facility receives industrial wastewater from various sources including oil filter recycling and industrial abrasives.     NCMC (Chrome removal at a Tannery in Northern NSW)

    The Northern Co-operative Meat Company Ltd operates a tannery at Casino NSW as part of its integrated processing service.     Australian Country Choice (Fat removal from an Abattoir red stream in Brisbane)

    The ACC Primary Processing facility at Cannon Hill has a daily capacity of 1280 head of beef cattle or approximately 80,000 tonnes of carcase beef per annum.
